She was a Karl Lagerfeld muse

Mizuhara soon became a top model in Japan and got the attention of fashion mogul Karl Lagerfeld. Pop Sugar reports the creative director of Chanel was so fascinated by Mizuhara that he photographed her himself for Chanel’s “Little Black Jacket” campaign. She was also a Dior ambassador at one point in her career.

Dubbed the “Future of Japan” by i-D Japan, today Mizuhara is recognised as one of Asia’s most powerful and influential fashion models. She has commercial clients including Uniqlo, Jill Stuart and Huawei. In Diesel’s spring/summer 2016 campaign, she featured alongside Joe Jonas, cementing her global star power in the fashion world.

The model has also collaborated with fashion brand Opening Ceremony. The collections were well received, with NY Mag using some of the outfits on a streetwear shoot in Tokyo. Cosmopolitan reports some of her outfits were even worn by the likes of Fenty billionaire Rihanna and Queen of Pop, Beyoncé. Her ability to cross over from being in front of the camera to creating garments has made her even more respected in the fashion industry.
